A village eatery is getting bigger and moving to new quarters across town.

Janice Hotchkiss and Anne Ventura, the twins in Twins Diner, have moved their operation from the plaza on Route 444 to the Main Street building that formerly housed Connie’s Grapevine Cafe, across from Bloomfield Village Hall.

“I expect to do better,” said Hotchkiss, an East Bloomfield resident since 1997. “It’s bigger, (the new Twins seats 106) and you have more volume there. It’s a nice location and it’s a pretty building. We’re going to go with a new menu.”

The Twins will serve family diner fare seven days a week (except Christmas) from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The women have seven employees.

“We do a lot of homemade soups (and) pies,” said Ventura, of Honeoye Falls. “We do a fish fry, a prime rib.”

The Twins’ new location has worked for other restaurants, but it lost its last tenant to hard times as the economy slowed. Ventura is not worried.

“People still go out to eat,” she said. “We’re not a fancy restaurant, more hometown, and better prices.”

Ventura and Hotchkiss also have their list of regulars.

“There’s the town boys, Chopper, the Village guys, the Outdoor Store crew, Narn,” began Ventura, using her diner shorthand. “The Country Corners crew, Vince and his crew, Bloomfield Medical group, Gary, Frank, different Frank, Patty, Mary Ann, Farah, Virginia, Mark, John and his family and his crew, Evelyn and Bob, Larry, Gary, Don, Jack, Tom, John, JJ, Steve, Randy, Jim, Charlie, Josette, Nancy, Michele, Davenport, Allen, Bev, Dorothy, Bruce, Jerry, Mary and Ron, Paul, other Jerry, Kathy and Tim.”

No telling what happens if they all show up at once.
